With a little delay we present you our review of 2019, the beginning of our story.

2019 was a year full of emotions, hard work, though times and surprises. When I had my first thought about this project I never expected that it will grow so fast in just one year. It is really heartwarming to see this many people helping us and identifying with my project. People all over the world are standing behind us and giving us the belief to be able to reach what we are aiming for.
The most important thing for me was to provide that the donations flow to 100 percent direct into the project. It shall be very clear for the donators what their money is used for. And everyone shall be able to see the progress we are making. Because of that I’m always publishing the expenses of the construction works. So there are no hidden costs. All we get, we invest!

We started the school with classrooms made of iron sheets. It has always been our dream to have a real school building. Of course it would be better and much easier to provide a good education to the children with a great infrastructure. But we need to work with what we have. So we had to build a plan to finance the new buildings. Thats how we came up with the fundraising.
We didn’t expect that we will raise KSH 166’000 (CHF 1’600.-) in this short period. Harrison and all members of the school were speechless when I revealed the amount in front of them. I wont forget the warm welcome I received this day. I really felt the love and faith in all these people!
The first step was done, we had money to start our plan. Harrison organized and managed everything with the support of his wife Grace. Right after my leave back to Switzerland the construction work began. As you can see on the article the first thing what had to be done was the digging. It took us longer than we expected and it also costed way more.

What us made really happy was the article in the journal of the SC Wohlensee as well the mention on the homepage of the Wohlener Ludothek. Behind it are amiable persons who really made an effort for our project. Thank you very much!

In summary we can say: WOW! It has been an amazing year. Of course all of this wouldn’t have been possible without the support from your site. We were able to create something special and wonderful. Im really happy about the whole thing. 2019 was amazing and hopefully 2020 will bring us a lot more incredible and happy moments! We are all looking forward to it. Maisha marefu! (long live)
